(3 year olds)
BSSD offers 3, ten-week sessions of 30 minutes per class for 3 year olds during the season. These classes are designed to introduce younger children to dance at an early age. In the class, they will focus on rhythm, movement to the music and simple steps. On the last day of class each session, parents are welcome to stay and watch what their children
During the 2nd last week of the session, parents will be offered the chance to pre-register for the next session.
No registration fee, volunteer and/or fundraising duty required at this age.
Introduction to Dance - Ballet
(4 year olds)
This class is designed for 4 year olds and is focused on learning ballet and jazz technique. The class runs for 30 minutes each week and students will learn the first steps of ballet. The class is designed to be structured yet fun and follows a RAD syllabus. The intent is to prepare these young dancers for Primary Foundation Ballet and Tap.
Students will perform at the McLab Theatre for their year end performance.
Movement & Mobility
(Ages 3 to 9)
Program designed for children with developmental delays or concerns. The goals of the program are to:
Provide children with a recreational community based program tailored to their needs
Teach basic dance movements
Provide a safe environment to learn something new and different.
Acceptance into this program is by application only. Classes are formed based on applications submitted by a Physical Therapist with experience in this area.
This group may perform in a year-end show but is at the discretion of the teacher and Physical Therapist Advisor. Parents will be invited to the last day of classes to watch and students will perform a small number they have learned. Dancers will receive a photo of themselves and their group as part of the program, along with a certificate during their last class.
